DIGIKART

Your loyalty card, in Google Wallet

Many of your Android customers already carry Google Wallet on their phone, next to their bank cards and their boarding passes. Digikart puts your loyalty card in there: they scan the QR code on your counter, tap once, and it is added. No app of yours to download, no Digikart account to create, no password to remember. Every stamp you give updates the card in their pocket.

Included in the Free plan The Google Wallet card is part of the Free plan, with unlimited customers and no bank card asked for at sign-up; the Plus plan (€17 incl. VAT per month, roughly £15, billed in euros) adds your logo and a banner on it.

No app of yours to install

Google Wallet comes already installed on a lot of Android phones, and where it is missing it is a free download from the Play Store. Your customer scans the QR code on your counter with their camera, taps Add, and the card is there. No sign-up form and no new password: the Google Account already on their phone is enough. If a phone does not handle wallets, a web card takes over.

One card, Android and iPhone

You set your card up once. Digikart builds the Google Wallet pass for Android and the Apple Wallet pass for iPhone from the same settings, so you never have to ask a customer which phone they carry.

It updates itself after every visit

Stamps, points and rewards change on the card in your customer's pocket, remotely. They reopen nothing: the balance showing in Google Wallet is the one in your dashboard, seconds after you scan them at the till.

Your name and your colours

The Free plan puts your business name and your colours on the card. The Plus plan adds your logo and a banner image, so what your customer sees in the wallet looks like your shop rather than a generic pass.

How it works

You sign up free, choose your colours and the name shown on the card, decide whether a visit gives a stamp or points based on the amount spent, and set your reward. Digikart then gives you a counter poster carrying your QR code, ready to print. A customer scans it with their phone camera, taps to add the card to Google Wallet, and it is installed in seconds. On every visit you scan the QR code on their card, from the Digikart app on your iPhone or from any browser, and the stamp lands on their phone straight away. No hardware to buy, no till to replace.

Frequently asked questions

Do my customers need to download an app?

No. Google Wallet is already installed on a lot of Android phones, and where it is not, it is a free download from the Play Store. Your customer scans your counter QR code once with the camera, taps to add the card, and it is in the wallet. No Digikart account is created for them: the Google Account already on their phone is what holds the card. If a phone does not handle wallets, a web card serves instead.

A customer's card has disappeared from Google Wallet, what now?

First have them check they are signed in with the Google Account they used to add it. Google's own help page for loyalty cards says that if the Wallet app was uninstalled, the gift cards and loyalty programmes are still held in the Google Account: they download the app again, sign in to the account they used before, and the programmes should reappear. If the card is really gone, they scan your counter QR code again: their stamps and rewards are held in your Digikart account, not in the phone, so nothing is lost.

A customer says there is no barcode, or the code will not scan. What do I do?

Digikart cards carry a QR code that you scan from your side. Google's help advises cleaning the screen, checking for cracks over the code and dragging it to another part of a cracked screen. Google also notes that a watch's brightness or contrast can stop dense codes scanning and shows a note asking to open the pass on the phone, so scan the phone rather than the smartwatch. If the screen is beyond saving, the customer scans your counter QR code again and gets their card back.

Does the same card work on iPhone?

Yes. The same programme produces an Apple Wallet pass on iPhone and a Google Wallet pass on Android, with the same balance and the same reward. Your customers use whichever phone they own, and you scan the same QR code either way.

What does the Google Wallet card cost?

Nothing on the Free plan: the card, unlimited customers, the counter poster, the scanner and the dashboard are included, with no bank card asked for at sign-up. Plus is €17 per month incl. VAT, roughly £15, and Pro is €49, roughly £42. Billing is in euros, so the exact sterling amount follows your bank's rate on the day.
