DIGIKART

Digikart or Perkstar: the honest comparison

Perkstar and Digikart make the same basic promise: a branded loyalty card in Apple Wallet and Google Wallet, with no app for the customer to download. Perkstar is a British vendor, it bills in pounds, and it runs card types we do not offer, which counts for something on this market. Two points change the arithmetic, though. Perkstar has no free plan, only seven days of trial, and its prices are quoted without VAT: its terms of service state that fees are exclusive of VAT, so add 20% to every figure on its pricing page if you are in the United Kingdom, 23% in Ireland. The VAT-inclusive figures below are the British ones. Digikart bills in euros, VAT included. Pricing recorded on perkstar.co.uk on 16 September 2026, to be checked on their site before any decision.

Our honest reading

Start with the arithmetic, because VAT moves it. Perkstar Starter is £15 a month before VAT, so £18 once VAT is added, while our Plus plan is €17 a month including VAT, about £15 at the European Central Bank rate of 16 September 2026. The two do not do the same job, though: Starter sends unlimited Wallet push notifications, our Plus plan dresses the card and sends none. The fair comparison is their Growth plan, £30 before VAT and £36 with it, against our Pro plan at €49 including VAT, about £42. On that line Perkstar is cheaper, by about £6 a month, and we would rather write it here than let you work it out elsewhere. What Growth does not include is the till connection, which sits on their Scale plan at £65 before VAT, £78 with it.

The second gap is how you get started. Perkstar gives seven days, with no payment card asked, and then the plan starts being billed. Seven days is enough to see the dashboard, not enough to see whether your customers collect stamps: a stamp card needs several weeks of ordinary footfall before it tells you anything. Our free plan has no end date and no cap on customers, with the Apple Wallet and Google Wallet card in your colours and under your name, one reward, the scanner, the counter poster and the dashboard. You pay the day you want your logo and your tiers, or notifications and the till, not the day a trial runs out.

Perkstar is the better choice in cases that are easy to name. It runs six card types where we run one mechanism: paid memberships with recurring Stripe billing, coupons, gift cards and prepaid multipasses for classes, sessions or visits. A yoga studio selling ten class bundles, a salon selling a monthly membership or a shop selling gift cards will find there something we simply do not build. Perkstar also has a referral programme on every plan, a developer API and webhooks on Scale, and unlimited Wallet push from its entry plan, where we start notifications at Pro. One figure to keep in mind: payments taken through Perkstar carry a Perkstar fee of 1% on Growth and 0.5% on Scale, on top of the subscription, while ordinary stamps, points and visits carry none.

Where the gap leans our way is several counters and the till. Each Perkstar plan includes one business location, extra ones are £10 a month or £120 a year each, and their own table caps self-service at ten locations in total, with staff accounts running 2, then 5, then 10 per location. Our Pro plan includes unlimited points of sale, employee accounts and the POS connection, with a one-off setup of €149 including VAT. Against that, weigh a real drawback: we bill in euros, so a British business pays €17 or €49 and may see a conversion charge on its card statement, where Perkstar takes pounds directly. The pound figures on this page are an order of magnitude at the 16 September 2026 rate, not a fixed price.

Frequently asked questions

Is Perkstar cheaper than Digikart?

It depends which plans you line up, and on VAT: their prices exclude it, ours include it. Perkstar Starter is £15 before VAT, £18 with it, against about £15 for our Plus plan, but Starter sends notifications and Plus does not. Compare their Growth plan, £36 including VAT, with our Pro plan at about £42, and Perkstar is cheaper by roughly £6 a month. Add shops or the till and the order changes: each extra location costs £10 a month before VAT on any Perkstar plan, and the till connection sits on their Scale plan at £78 including VAT, where our Pro plan includes both.

Does Perkstar have a free plan?

No. Their pricing page offers seven days free with no payment card, then billing starts on Starter, Growth or Scale. Our free plan has no time limit and no cap on customers: the Wallet card in your colours, one reward, the scanner, the counter poster and the dashboard. That difference matters most when you are not yet sure a loyalty programme suits your trade and want to watch it work for a season.

Digikart bills in euros. Is that a problem for a UK business?

It is a genuine drawback, and worth knowing before you sign up. The plans are €17 and €49 a month including VAT, about £15 and £42 at the European Central Bank rate of 16 September 2026, and your bank may add a conversion charge. What does not move is the amount itself: no fee per customer, no fee per notification, and no charge per shop on the Pro plan.

What does Perkstar do that Digikart does not?

Memberships with recurring billing, coupons, gift cards, prepaid multipasses, a referral programme, a developer API on Scale and AI reporting. It also sends unlimited Wallet push on its entry plan, where we start notifications at Pro. If your project is a paid membership or a book of class passes, go with them. If it is a stamp or points card you want to run for free, without counting customers or shops, we are the closer fit.
